The Polyurethane structure is the most versatile of any known polymer and finds a place in almost every aspect of normal life. However, most of the conventional Polyurethane structures are made from petrochemical based polyol which may pose a threat to the environment. |

Realizing this fact, Maskimi was formed to develop an alternative solution to manufacture Polyurethane which uses environmentally friendly and natural renewable resources. With Malaysia being one of the largest palm oil producer in the world, the abundance and proximity of palm oil supply has presented itself as the optimum natural feedstock in the production of Natural Oil Polyol ("NOP"), which can be further developed into NOP based Polyurethane systems. The manufacturing process of NOP is relatively simple, non-hazardous, and requires minimal energy and space as compared to conventional petrochemical polyol manufacturing facility. The process utilizes naturally occurring oils i.e. palm oil for feedstock, and does not produce toxic fumes, toxic waste or unwanted by-products. All these virtues have rendered the manufacturing process more cost effective and environmentally friendly. Through intensive research and development, Maskimi has developed reagents for the conversion of various natural oils into different grade of NOPs, and the list continues to grow to cover wider range of application. |
